Procedures that help with facial rejuvenation
Around the age of 25, the first signs of skin aging begin to appear. This happens as a result of the natural aging process, combined with the acceleration of sagging, as well as the appearance of spots and wrinkles. Fortunately, there are several procedures that can help with the facial rejuvenation process.
A healthy lifestyle, which includes regular physical exercise, as well as a balanced diet, rich in antioxidant and vegetable foods and the constant use of sunscreen, contribute to preventing aging.
Furthermore, procedures such as application of botulinum toxin, bio-stimulators, filling with hyaluronic acid and support threads are great for improving the appearance of the skin. Get to know each of them better in the following article!
Botulinum toxin
Botulinum toxin, popularly known as botox, originates from a bacteria that has properties capable of stimulating muscle relaxation, in addition to helping to inhibit muscle contraction. Widely used in aesthetics, botulinum toxin is also very useful in the treatment of other problems such as dystonia, strabismus, eyelid spasm, hyperhidrosis and overactive bladder.
Indications
When it comes to facial rejuvenation, botulinum toxin is one of the most important techniques and is highly recommended for those who want to reduce the most advanced expression marks or for those looking to prevent the signs of time on their skin, such as: the “crow’s feet” located in the corners of the eyes, horizontal lines in the forehead region and in the bands of the platysma muscle, the so-called “turkey neck”.
The applications
The procedure is performed by applying small amounts of the substance to the underlying muscles. The number of applications that will be necessary will depend on several factors, such as the extent of the wrinkles and other facial characteristics of the patient.
In general, the application lasts around 15 minutes and the results appear around 7 to 15 days later. The technique usually takes effect for, on average, three to six months, and gradually disappears, while the action of the muscles returns.
However, if applications are carried out at regular intervals, the muscles tend to weaken, making the effects last longer. At this point, it is worth highlighting that the procedure can be repeated several times, according to the patient’s wishes and needs and upon medical advice.
Hyaluronic acid filler
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance present in our skin layer and has several benefits for skin health, giving it firmness and acting as an important source of water and nutrients.
However, over time, it is natural for our body to lose this substance. From then on, problems such as sagging, wrinkles and expression lines begin to appear. Hyaluronic acid is one of the safest and simplest substances when it comes to facial rejuvenation treatments.
Indications
The facial rejuvenation procedure through the use of hyaluronic acid aims to replace the volume of a certain part of the body with the aim of reducing deep grooves, such as wrinkles. The application can be made in the nasolabial fold, also known as Chinese mustache, in the dark circles area, jaw contour, in the supra labial region, on the lips, to fill scars on the face, among others.
With just one application session you can already see good results. However, it is possible for touch-ups to be done if the patient wishes. The effect begins to appear after a week, as the swelling in the treated area decreases.
It is worth mentioning here that the result is not permanent and lasts an average of 12 to 20 months.
Filling with biostimulators
Filling with bio-stimulators is a technique that aims to alleviate furrows and depressions in the skin. The procedure is carried out by injecting a product into the area to be treated. There are three types of substances used for this technique: Sculptra, Ellanse and Radiesse.
- Sculptra: is poly-L-lactic acid, widely used in facial rejuvenation treatment, this collagen stimulator helps restore facial volume and contour, as well as improving sagging in other areas of the body, such as arms, abdomen and buttocks. On average, for results to start appearing, 3 sessions are needed and the effects can last up to 2 years.
- Ellance: the substance is composed of 2 active ingredients – polycaprolactone and carboxymethylcellulose. The stimulant is indicated for the treatment of facial sagging and wrinkles, with the advantage of bringing very natural results. Furthermore, the technique can also improve the texture of the skin, leaving it healthier, firmer and silkier.
- Radiesse: this is a substance called calcium hydroxyapatite, which is highly sought after by patients who wish to correct and fill deep depressions on their hands and face, in addition to stimulating collagen production. It is possible to notice the first results after 2 or 3 sessions. Its action remains in the body for about 2 years.
Support wires
Another procedure widely used for facial rejuvenation is thread support. These are threads composed of polylactic acid that, when applied, fix the skin to the subcutaneous tissue.
The technique is recommended for patients who have deep wrinkles and expression lines. Using this technique, it is possible to reduce sagging, eliminate the Chinese mustache and double chin, lift the cheekbones, reposition the eyebrows, stimulate collagen production and restore the contour of the face and neck.
The support threads provide immediate results, however, tissue lifting tends to achieve maximum results 60 days after the procedure.
Its effect can last for up to 12 months, when it is absorbed by the body. However, the collagen that was produced from the stimulation of the hairs will continue to be present in the skin, thus contributing to the slowdown of aging.
